Chances are, you have purchased something from Amazon before. After all, they offer great prices, great shipping, and their selection is better than any box-store.
What most consumers don’t realize is that when they make a purchase, there are generally other parties receiving revenue beyond just Amazon. Amazon Sellers are people who list products that are for sale on Amazon’s network, and ship the products themselves. Amazon Associates refer customers to the Amazon site and earn a commission (usually 4-10%) in exchange.
The reason I am an advocate of becoming an affiliate marketer is because it involves no shipping, no handling of inventory, and you can earn money on any of the millions of products that Amazon offers. Read my affiliate marketing post for more information on how affiliate marketing really works.
How to Sell Other People’s Products on Amazon:
I am going to present to you a genuine scenario that shows how you can earn commissions from Amazon. If you become confused at any point, scroll down and leave me your question in the comments section.
It starts with a niche website that was built using the Wealthy Affiliate website builder. This niche is targeting people that are interested in losing weight. There is a variety of solid content on the site, but one of the topics is juicing. Anyone that views an article pertaining to juicing will receive an affiliate promotion that shows the blender used, the Vitamix 6300.
This particular blender is an Amazon product. The affiliate link is snagged, via the Amazon Associates affiliate program, and added to the niche website. If anyone follows this link to Amazon and purchases the blender, a commission is paid.

The beauty of becoming an Amazon Associate, is that you will receive commission on ANYTHING else that people add to their cart before they check-out. An Amazon customer can accumulate a big bill and as long as it is within the first 24-hours of receiving your affiliate cookie, you will receive a commission on the entire bill. This applies to all the products and not just the ones that you are advertising.
Amazon’s network of products includes over 100 million items that you can promote as an affiliate. They sell millions of items per day, that means that there are millions of opportunities for you to earn money.
How is Payment Received?
Amazon offers associates three different methods of receiving their payments.
- Direct Deposit with a minimum of $10 earnings (USA only).
- Amazon Gift Card with a minimum of $10 earnings.
- They can send you a check with a minimum of $100 earnings.
There is no way that you are going to simply join the affiliate program and receive commissions. In order to be successful, you have to understand how to build an affiliate marketing business. If you are inexperienced in this, I recommend you receive training. There are tons of people that earn a full time income advertising Amazon products alone, but there are other affiliate programs if you wish to seek higher commissions.

Every niche has thousands of products. All of these products can be advertised by affiliates who will earn a commission. Some companies are willing to pay up to 75% commission per sale.
An Amazon associate can expect 4-10% on sales, but there are higher paying affiliate programs.
Weight Watchers: $10 per sale
Options House: $60 per sale
Care.com: $50 per sale
Monster.com: 12-17% per sale
Skin Store: 8-t0% per sale
Norton Antivirus: 15-30% per sale
Verizon Wireless: 25% per sale
Zappos.com: 8-18% per sale
There are thousands of affiliate programs out there, beyond just these, and that means thousands of opportunities for you. Every major retailer has a program and almost every product can be sold through an affiliate program.
In order to be successful as an affiliate, you need to know how to build a long-term affiliate marketing business. If you are just starting out, I recommend that you seek proper training.
