Do Your Research!
Any marketer can tell you that market research is mandatory to produce sales. You must know your demographics. Keyword research is mandatory for a successful website. Knowing which keywords will allow you to rank on the “big three” (Google, Yahoo, and Bing) search engines will make all the difference in the amount of traffic funneled to your site.
More Traffic = More Sales
By placing keywords that test well in your titles, posts, and pages your rank from the search engines will improve. The higher your rank, the closer you are to the first page of search results.
1. Monthly Searches – This will show you the number of monthly searches for the particular keyword you are searching for. If you are going for natural rankings, then any traffic is good traffic! When you rank for a keyword, your traffic will grow cumulatively.
2. KQI (Keyword Quality Index) – This reveals the quality of the keyword for any marketing campaign (PPC, SEO, or otherwise.)
3. QSR (Quoted Search Results) – This is the BEST competition metric. The number of competing pages, which are under the exact term that you searched, is revealed to you. I recommend choosing keywords that have a QSR below 300, but fewer than 400 should rank.
4. SEO Power – This is determined by traffic, competition, and the nature/quality of a keyword. It will tell you if a keyword is a good candidate for SEO rankings.
